Using the Islands Institute Library
Our library is a user-editable "wiki," where artists, activists, environmentalists and community groups can tell each other about their work. Islands Institute students and teachers build the library as they work.
Please don't be afraid to make a new page in the Library - there is really no way to make a mistake! And do email Caffyn for help and advice.
These pictures show you what happens when you go to add a page to the Library. First the Library opens in a new window. Over on the right hand side, under the sidebar tab, click on "Create a new page."
The first time you go to edit the library, you will be asked to log in. Type in the password, which is transform. Add you name and - only if you wish - your email. Then press the Log-in button.
You'll be directed to "Name your new page." It can be a page about you - use your own name. It can be a page about an idea, a book you've read, or an organization you value. Type in a name for your page, then click on the "Create new page" button.
That's it! You're in and creating your new page. You can also paste in a document from your clipboard. Just don't forget to press the "Save" button on the left.
It's really as simple as that. Once you get some practice adding text, you'll want to add images and format text. But for now, just get started!
Now, let's try it! We'd like you to click on the link below and create a page about yourself in the library. Sign in using your real name (Your email address is optional) and the password "transform." Create a new page about yourself and save it. Remember that you can't really make a mistake - so just have fun! And do email Caffyn if you have any trouble.
